2023 Tour de France
UCI World Tour
Stage race (Grand Tour)
From Spain to France
1–23 July 2023
Carlos Rodriguez is carrying Ineos Grenadiers' ambitions of winning the
2023 Tour de France with six stages left.
What to know about Rodriguez
The Spanish cyclist is best known for winning the National Junior Road Championships which were part of the 2018 UEC European Road Championships.
Rodriguez's best performance in the Grand Tours came at the 2022 Vuelta a España where he finished seventh and he is now looking to make his mark at the 2023 Tour de France.
Why Rodriguez is among the favourites
The Almuñécar-born star won stage 14 of the 2023 Tour de France as he set a strong warning to his rivals in the battle for the Coupe Omnisports.
Rodriguez finds himself placed third on the General Classification (Yellow Jersey) standings and he is looking to cause a major upset by winning the Tour de France.
Quotes
“It was hard! Carlos Is doing a fantastic job and today again, really good job," Ineos Grenadiers' Tom Pidcock said about Rodriguez after stage 15 of the Tour de France on July 16.
"He won his first stage of the Tour yesterday then he does a good ride again today. Super impressive.
“To be honest I felt a bit sick at the start. I felt terrible to be honest, but by the end I came round. I still managed to kick my own head in on that final climb.”
